Uniphos announces new KwikDraw formaldehyde tube

The tubes change from a white to violet-red color.

Uniphos Envirotronic Inc. is pleased to announce that we have a new tube available! Our KwikDraw Uniphos detector tube for Formaldehyde-0.1, D7086862 will ensure workers are safe in industries ranging from agriculture to pharmaceuticals.

One of the key factors that result in enhanced safety is the more distinct discoloration. Our tubes change from white to a violet-red color, so there is no doubt whether formaldehyde is present in the air.

While safety is always top of mind at Uniphos, one of the other top competitive advantages of our tubes is the lower price, resulting in cost savings for the diverse industries we serve. Also, there is no need for an activation tube which reduces cost and complexity for the user.

The new tubes have a measuring range of 0.2 – 2.5 ppm at n=10 (10 strokes) and 0.1 – 1.25 ppm at n=20 (20 strokes). The sampling time is 20 – 25 seconds per pump stroke.

Industries and applications that use formaldehyde include the following:

Construction/Home Building: Formaldehyde is used in the production of home building products, solvents, bonding agents and adhesives. It is also common to find formaldehyde in plywood, particle board, paneling and foam insulation. 

Textiles: The textile industry uses formaldehyde based resins to manufacture crease resistant fabrics.

Embalming: Formaldehyde solutions are used for embalming to disinfect and preserve tissue.  Aqueous solutions are used to kill bacteria and different fungi.

Manufacturing: As a chemical precursor, formaldehyde is used in the manufacture of paints and explosives.
