For almost 100 years, Fire Prevention Week has been an opportunity for awareness and education, and despite the global pandemic, this year is no exception. As Fire Prevention Week 2020 gets underway on October 4, Uniphos Envirotronic Inc. would like to extend our appreciation to the emergency responders who keep us all safe.

Uniphos offers Hazmat Response Kits, which are ideal when responders are called out to situations involving unknown contaminants in the air at a hazardous incident or industrial setting.
The tubes in the kit identify chemicals by class or functional group. They are designed for quick, qualitative assessments, and are capable of determining the presence of the contaminants at minimum concentration levels.
“The initial assessment of potentially hazardous situations is crucial to ensuring everyone’s safety, and these kits are designed to help,” said Singh. “Emergency response, fire and hazmat teams are able to classify unknown chemical gases and vapors at accident or spill sites.”
The detector tubes included in the kit have been selected to utilize a systematic sampling matrix, which provides step-by-step instructions providing quantitative measurements of specific gases.
“These kits are very easy to use, as they are ultra-low maintenance and don’t require any kind of electrical power to operate,” said Singh.
Another useful product is the Indoor Air Set, which provides a quick assessment and basic information of the indoor air quality. These sets can be used in college dormitories, office complexes, apartment buildings, etc. to determine the levels of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, water vapor (RH), formaldehyde and ozone.
