Dr. R. C. Naik: Chairman & Technical Director

Dr. Naik, with an illustrious career spanning over 65 years of research experience at Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC)and later at Uniphos Envirotronic Pvt. Ltd. (UEPL) has enough to boast of his unparalleled expertise in the instrument industry. Having spearheaded a solid-state spectroscopy group and specializing in laser-excited, X-ray-excited optical fluorescence spectroscopy and spectroscopic instrumentation, his career itself is a testament to his unrivaled expertise in the field of spectroscopy and instrumentation.

A brilliant mind in the field of spectroscopy, he initiated and executed in BARC the development of an innovative computer-controlled scanning spectrometer, complete with a precision drive system for Selective Excitation of Probe Ion Luminescence (SEPIL) studies for ultra-trace analysis of rare-earth compounds – a remarkable feat that earned him a two-year visiting professorship at the prestigious Institute of Nuclear Physics in Orsay, France.

With his passion for innovative research and with a vision of the future, he proposed a research program, beginning with the indigenous development of phosphine detection devices. Since then, from the establishment of a world-class laboratory and research facilities, to recruiting and training top-tier technical personnel, he has successfully steered the entire program.

With his exceptional technical acumen and guidance, the laboratory has flourished into a world class R&D and instrument production facility with an extensive portfolio of products and services. The diverse research programs initiated by him have ushered in a new era of indigenous development of technologies in India, marked by groundbreaking research programs in the areas of sensor development, water and oil quality analysis, and cutting-edge spectroscopic instrumentation for analytical applications.

As the Chairman and Technical Director of UEPL since its inception in 2010, Dr. Naik has been responsible for the overall operation of the company with a remarkable track record of success.

With over 100 research papers and articles published in leading scientific journals, he has established himself as a preeminent thought leader in his field. His innovative contributions to technology have been recognized with numerous patents. He is also a winner of the Technology Day Invention Award 2001 from DSIR and the WIPO International Award for the Best Research of 2002 from the World Intellectual Property Organization in Switzerland.

His visionary leadership, groundbreaking research initiatives, and many international awards have established him as a true pioneer in his field and a driving force behind UEPL's ongoing success.
